Danville police investigate ‘suspicious’ armed man seen in backyard

(KRON) — The Danville Police Department has been unable to locate a person who was seen armed in a local backyard last week.

The man was caught on camera in the backyard of a home on the 600 block of Park Hill Road, near Morninghome Road on Oct. 18. He had what appeared to be a handgun.

Witnesses said the man looked disoriented as if he was fleeing from someone. He told the witness to contact police, DPD said.

In the days since, police have searched extensively for the man. DPD knocked on doors, and used a drone and a K9 in an attempt to find the man, but they were unable.

“After following all logical investigative paths and leads, the person was not found, and we’ve received no additional reports,” Danville police said.

The man is described as a Middle Eastern male, 40-50 years old, with short curly hair and a clean-shaven face. He was seen wearing a blue sweatshirt and blue pants.

Surveillance video released by Danville police on Wednesday appears to show the man creeping around the backyard, grabbing a ladder at one point and pointing the gun. The video is attached above.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DPD Lieutenant Heather Transue by phone (925-314-3702) or email (htransue@danville.ca.gov.)
