Crinkle-cut fry fans, rejoice: Shake Shack will open its third O.C. location this month.
As part of the New York City-based burger chain’s footprint expansion in Orange County, Shake Shack announced the official opening date of its new Huntington Beach location at Brookhurst and Adams, happening on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
This mark’s the company’s third fast-food spot in the region; the first Orange County Shake Shacks opened at Irvine Spectrum Center in 2023 and along Costa Mesa’s 17th Street corridor in May 2024. According to a spokesperson for the company, a Brea location is still in the works.

Shake Shack’s menu is known for such American staples as beef burgers, chicken burgers, the aforementioned crinkle-cut fries, hot dogs (split-style cut down the middle), frozen custards and lemonade. The Huntington Beach Shack, along with the other to O.C. locations, will serve the Orange County-exclusive Dreamsicle Shake featuring vanilla frozen custard with orange soda and topped with whipped cream and orange candy sprinkles.
Shake Shack’s third location in Orange County is scheduled to open on Oct. 23 at 20100 Brookhurst Street in Huntington Beach, CA, on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024. This is Shake Shack’s first Orange County location to have a drive-thru. (Photo by Jeff Gritchen, Orange County Register/SCNG)
For its grand opening in Surf City, a wood-paneled car from the Southern California Woodie Club will be the inaugural vehicle to make its way through the Huntington Beach Shake Shack drive-thru lane. What’s more, one dollar from the sale of every sandwich at the new location will go to Second Harvest Food Bank, one of Orange County’s largest food banks.

Originally conceived as a hot dog cart operation in Madison Square Park in 2001 by celebrity chef and restauranteur Daniel Meyer, Shake Shack has since swelled to more than 350 franchises in 33 U.S. states, and over 200 international locations across London, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Mexico City, Istanbul, Dubai, Tokyo as of the third quarter of 2024. In August, the company confirmed the closure of five restaurants in Los Angeles, Culver City and Canoga Park.
Fun factoid: Meyer came up with his burger chain’s name after watching the 1978 film version of the musical “Grease” wherein Sandy and Danny dance on an amusement park ride called the “Shake Shack” while crooning the movie’s final number “You’re the One That I Want.”
Hours: Monday-Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. (dining room) and midnight (drive-thru).
