The following day, at 9:07 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to another report of a burglary at the restaurant. Officers arrived on the scene and observed signs of forced entry to the restaurant’s door. Officers contacted an employee and did a second walkthrough.

No suspects were located inside but it was reported that property was stolen.

According to a GoFundMe organized by a relative of El Faro’s owner, the restaurant suffered more than $20,000 in loss and damages.

“This is a family-owned business, and my aunt works extremely hard every day to keep it running,” the fundraiser states, “but with these attacks, it is becoming extremely hard and exhausting.”

News of the break-ins at El Faro, which has been open since 1961, was first reported in Mission Local.
