This week’s Orange County girls volleyball Top 10.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TOP 10
(Records through Oct. 7)
1. Mater Dei (27-4): The Monarchs finished third in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Arizona.
2. Huntington Beach (28-3): The Oilers are 9-0 in the Sunset League after last week’s sweeps of Edison and Marina.
3. Los Alamitos (28-6): The Griffins, No. 4 last week, beat CIF Southern Section top-rated Sierra Canyon in the Varsity Power Classic tournament and lost to eventual champion Redondo in the tournament after beating Redondo in a nonleague match earlier in the week.
4. Santa Margarita (18-9): The Eagles went 3-3 in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Arizona and defeated Orange Lutheran in a Trinity League match.
5. Orange Lutheran (23-10): The Lancers lost to Santa Margarita in Trinity League play, defeated Rosary in a nonleague match.
6. JSerra (14-9): The Lions were swept by Mater Dei in their only match of last week.
7. Newport Harbor (18-7): The Sailors improved to 7-3 in the Sunset League with sweeps of Fountain Valley and Corona del Mar.
8. San Juan Hills (14-4): The Stallions are in first place in the South Coast League with a 4-1 league record after defeating San Clemente in four sets last week.
9. Dana Hills (15-7): The Dolphins are 4-2 in the tough South Coast League after sweeps of San Clemente and Trabuco Hills.
10. Aliso Niguel (17-8): The Wolverines went 2-4 in the Varsity Power Classic tournament, lost to Trabuco Hills in a South Coast League match.
Others: Beckman (14-9); Capistrano Valley Christian (19-5); Marina (14-13); San Clemente (11-13); Tesoro (17-6); Trabuco Hills (12-13).
