HEALDSBURG, Calif. (KRON) — The Healdsburg Police Department (HPD) have arrested a 50-year-old man who they believe was under the influence of alcohol when his motorcycle caused a two-vehicle crash.
HPD said they received multiple calls about the collision at 12:19 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Healdsburg Avenue and Parkland Farms Boulevard.
Officers arrived to locate a male motorcyclist suffering from serious injuries who was taken to a nearby hospital. The driver of the vehicle had moderate injuries and received care at the scene, said police.
Investigators said they were able to determine that alcohol was a factor in the accident. Officials confirmed that the motorcycle driver, identified as Glenn Merrifield, of Windsor, was arrested for felony DUI causing injury and possession of a controlled substance. Merrifield was released on a citation with a future court date, due to his injuries, said HPD.
