SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Cisco Systems, Inc. will be laying off hundreds of employees in the Bay Area, according to state filings with the Employment Development Department. The job cuts will impact 134 employees at the tech giant’s San Francisco office at 500 Terry A. Francois Boulevard near Chase Center.
At Cisco’s Milpitas facility at 560 McCarthy Boulevard, 145 people will lose their jobs. The majority of those impacted, however, will be at Cisco’s San Jose office at 170 West Tasman Drive, where 563 people will be let go.
The job cuts were announced earlier this week and will take effect on Nov. 15. All of the layoffs are permanent.
IBM layoffs
International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) has also announced Bay Area layoffs this week. The computer and technology giant will be cutting 58 jobs at its office at 425 Market Street in San Francisco and 54 jobs at its office at 555 Bailey Avenue in San Jose.
The IBM layoffs will take effect on Nov. 18. Those layoffs are also permanent, according to state filings.
