A 20-year-old woman is behind bars after she allegedly tried to carjack a bus in Victorville while the driver was helping disabled passengers disembark.
Angel Bourne, a Barstow resident, tried to enter the driver’s compartment of the Victor Valley Transit Authority vehicle at 8:45 a.m. while the bus was in the 17000 block of Jasmine Street, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
The driver and Bourne then struggled over control over the driver’s compartment after “an apparent attempt by Bourne to steal the bus,” officials said.
Though she was unable to take control of the bus, Bourne “eventually entered the rear of the bus and refused to exit,” the release added.
A deputy “used de-escalation tactics to gain Bourne’s compliance,” and she was arrested for attempting carjacking.
She is being held at the High Desert Detention Center in lieu of $45,000 bail. She’s due to appear in Victorville Superior Court on Friday.
