Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation into what led up to the stabbing death of a man in Irvine.
According to the Irvine Police Department, officers responded to a home on Fortuna Street in the Northwood neighborhood, located on the city’s north side, on calls of a dispute just before 6:20 a.m. Tuesday.
When they arrived, they found the deceased man inside, police said.
Authorities would not disclose many more details surrounding the case, but they did tell KTLA 5 Orange County Bureau Chief Chip Yost that their initial investigation indicated it was not a suspicious death.
Officers later told Yost that they stated the incident was a homicide and that a male victim had been stabbed to death.
Just after 1 p.m. Tuesday, authorities confirmed that a suspect had been detained.
No further information was released.
