(KRON) — The San Francisco 49ers will be without star receiver Deebo Samuel next Sunday in Los Angeles against the Rams. 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Samuel is expected to miss a couple of weeks due to a calf strain.
Shanahan said Samuel suffered the injury during one of the final plays of Sunday’s loss in Minnesota against the Vikings. The 2021 All-Pro receiver is coming off a big game with 8 catches and 110 yards.
Samuel, 28, is another weapon to miss time on the 49ers’ offense. He is another San Francisco star dealing with a calf issue.
Running back Christian McCaffrey, the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year, was placed on injured reserve last week and is expected to miss at least four more games. McCaffrey, 28, is out due to lingering calf and Achilles tendon injuries.
Last season, Samuel missed two regular-season games with a shoulder injury.
The 49ers will take on NFC West rival Rams on Sunday, Sept. 22 for a 1:25 p.m. kickoff.
