SANTA ANA — A 19-year-old man was charged Thursday with a fatal drive-by shooting in Santa Ana in June.
Cesar Gaspar was charged with murder with special circumstances allegations of a drive-by shooting and criminal gang activity, according to court records.
Gaspar was also charged with possession of a gun under the age of 30 with a prior offense and possession of a gun by a probationer, and faces a sentencing enhancement for discharge of a gun causing death.
Gaspar is accused in the June 3 killing of 19-year-old Angel Junior Vuelvas of Santa Ana.
Gaspar did not enter a plea at his arraignment Thursday, which was rescheduled for Sept. 30.
Co-defendant Gabriel Gutierrez, 19, was charged in June with murder with a sentencing enhancement for a gang member’s vicarious discharge of a gun causing great bodily injury. Gutierrez pleaded not guilty July 2.
The shooting occurred at about 6:40 p.m. near 1100 S. Poplar St.
