Anaheim briefs: Policing of tomorrow to be presented to residents

There will be a virtual ride along with Anaheim Police Department at an important event at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 26   at Anaheim Central Library

Members of the APD will present the new state-of-the-art technology the department will utilitizing that revolutionizes policing and brings an additional level of safety to Anaheim, officials said.

The presentation will show cameras, license plate readers, drones and more. It is free to attend and all are welcome. The library is at 500 W. Broadway.

Active Older Adult health fair and craft boutique

Anaheim’s Active Older Adult Program will present a health and resource expo on Sept. 14 at the Downtown Anaheim Community Center.

Those who are Medicare eligible will be able to speak with a variety of health care providers and community resources. There will also be health screenings, class demonstrations, entertainment and opportunity drawings.

There will also be a bake sale during this event.

The expo will be 10 a.m. to noon at the center at 250 E. Center St., with appetizers served from noon to 1 p.m. There is no cost for this event. For more information call 714-765-4511.

Use Anaheim’s libraries without late fees

The Anaheim Public Library is now fine-free and everyone can enjoy their library card without ever having to worry about paying overdue fees. September is also Library Card Sign-Up Month.

Your outstanding balance can be cleared – the only exception is charges related to STEAM science kits, ukuleles and/or Chromebooks.

Did you know that now available for reservation are IFIXIT kit tools that you can check out? These are professional grade repair tools for any repair, and there is much more at all the branches.

Have an eco-friendly day

On Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be a clothing swap, yoga, workshops, entertainment and an eco-friendly marketplace at Farmers Park at the Packing House District.

There will also be an upcycled crafts station for kids.  There will be eco-conscious activities and vendors will take place along the shaded boardwalk and green at Farmers Park, 412 S. Anaheim Blvd.

Solve a crime with police and help raise money

The Anaheim Police Department is pulling back the curtain on a case.

Anaheim Confidential is scheduled for Oct. 4, and the presentation will follow a crime in Anaheim, how it was pursued, investigated and solved.

The event is a fundraiser for the department’s Cops-4-Kids nonprofit youth programs and will be held in the River Arena, 201 E. Broadway, from 4 to 9 p.m. Anaheim Confidential is in its seventh year

Welcome Wagon Club of North Orange County busy

There is a social club with about 100 members from throughout the Anaheim, Brea, Fullerton, Placentia and Yorba Linda areas.

Members of the Welcome Wagon Club of North Orange County are new residents or newly retired widowed or empty nested and are looking for a way to make new friends.

They meet on the third Thursday of the month from September to May. Meetings are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Coyote Hills Country Club in Fullerton.  There is a membership fee of $35, plus cost of luncheon.

The Assistance League of Orange is presenting its Boutique Noel 2024 for some early holiday preparations.

Boutique Noel will bring unique hand-crafted items, fall and winter décor, jewelry, gifts, clothing, food and more to one spot for shopping.

The boutique is being held Oct. 9-12 at 124 S. Orange St., Orange. Hours are 2:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 9, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 10 and 11, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12

Parking and admission are free each day.
