Owners and fans of Southern California’s Mountain High Resort breathed a sigh of relief Wednesday after the ski resort avoided catastrophe from one of California’s raging wildfires.
Despite dramatic video shared on social media that appeared to show the resort surrounded by massive flames from the Bridge Fire, and erroneous reports that the resort had burned to the ground, Mountain High officials announced that the property had ultimately dodged a bullet.

The resort, which is located in Wrightwood well within the Bridge Fire perimeter, announced that all the main ski lifts and buildings survived the flames with little to no damage.
“We’re still standing strong – we [love] you,” resort officials said on X.
The resort was saved in part by quick thinking and improvisation from staff members.
Video from the resort’s live webcams on Tuesday showed a desperate attempt to beat back the flames using the machines typically used to create snow in cold temperatures.
Snow cannons shoot aerated water into the air during frigid temperatures to produce snowflakes. On Tuesday, the cannons were used as makeshift firefighting tools.
Mountain High Resort is located at 24510 Hwy. 2 and is about a 90-minute drive from Los Angeles and Orange County. It consists of three separate mountains with West, East and North resorts. Its ski season typically begins in November.

The 48,000-acre Bridge Fire continues to burn across the mountains and valleys in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.
The blaze is responsible for the destruction of dozens of homes and cabins, and fire officials warn that hundreds of structures and critical power infrastructure remain threatened at this time.
