A three-year-old girl died from possible heat stroke complications in Anaheim after she was found unconscious inside a car alongside her mother on Friday, one of the hottest days during this week’s heat wave.
On Sep. 6, officers and emergency personnel responded around 4:20 p.m. to a medical emergency in a residential area on the 1300 block of Fashion Lane. Officers gave CPR to a 3-year-old girl after a family member pulled her out of a car and attempted to provide first aid. The child’s mother was also found unconscious in the car, Sgt. Matt Sutter said.
Both were hospitalized. The little girl later died at the hospital, with the preliminary cause of death being heat stroke complications. The official coroner’s report has not been completed, Sutter said.
The mother has since recovered but was being monitored at a hospital, police said. It was not immediately clear if she would face any charges.
