Police on Monday arrested an 18-year-old for allegedly stabbing to death a man and hitting a woman with a car at an apartment complex in Tustin.
Police arrested Jan Daniel Lopez in connection with the fatal stabbing and vehicle striking. Lopez is from Santa Ana and was taken without incident to the Tustin Police Department, according to police.
Tustin police responded to calls at 12:14 a.m. Monday regarding a woman hit by a vehicle at the Arbor Ranch Apartments. Police later received information that a stabbing also had occurred at the apartments.
Officers at the scene found the two victims outside the apartments on Nisson Road. The victims were taken to Orange County Global Medical Center where the man died due to his stab wounds, according to police. The woman has significant injuries but is communicating and in stable condition, according to police.
Tustin Police Lt. Matt Nunley said all three people knew each other.
Nunley said Tustin police put out an alert to other OC police agencies with a description of the vehicle. Anaheim Police at around 2:15 a.m. located Lopez near 1265 North Kraemer Blvd. and arrested him.
