Two motorcyclists were killed in a crash early Sunday morning, August 25 on the 5 Freeway in Irvine, authorities said.
The crash occurred at about 12:15 a.m. on the northbound freeway at Culver Drive, where there was a report of a rider down in the middle lane, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The CHP said there were approximately 50 motorcyclists at the scene, but only two were involved in the collision.
Paramedics pronounced a second person dead at the scene at 12:25 a.m.
A Sigalert closing the northbound lanes for an unknown duration at 12:21 a.m. was canceled at 4 a.m.
