After a long process, the Galaxy have officially added German midfielder Marco Reus.
Reus joins as a free agent, signing a 2½-year contract through the end of 2026. The Galaxy added Reus using Targeted Allocation Money after acquiring the Discovery Priority to Reus in a trade with Charlotte FC. The price was a steep one, costing the Galaxy $400,000 in General Allocation Money ($100,000 in 2024 and $300,000 in 2025).
Reus, 35, ended his career at Borussia Dortmund at the end of the last club season. He initially joined Dortmund in 2012 after four years at Borussia Monchengladbach.
Reus recorded 301 goal contributions in 429 career appearances in 12 seasons with Dortmund. Reus was a two-time German Footballer of the Year (2012 and 2019), three-time Bundesliga Player of the Year (2011-12, 2013-14 and 2018-19 and helped lead Dortmund to the German Cup (2016-17 and 2020-21), DFB Pokal (2016-17 2020-21) and DFL-Supercup (2013 and 2019).
In his last season, he recorded six goals and eight assists in 18 starts with Dortmund.
In 48 appearances with the German national team, Reus scored 15 goals and added 14 assists.
Reus will be officially introduced Friday.
The Galaxy will resume MLS play Aug. 24 at home against Atlanta United FC.
