McDonald’s Collector’s Meals went on sale Tuesday, Aug. 13. Each meal comes with one of six cups featuring nostalgic images from promotions past.
We weren’t sure what we’d be getting, so we ordered the breakfast Collectible Meal on the chain’s app.

The meal included a Sausage McMuffin with Egg sandwich, one Hash Brown and choice of beverage. We got a large hot coffee but were also offered small soft drinks and juice.
The meal came in a special bag covered with McDonald’s characters.
The collector’s cup was in the bag in its own plastic wrapping with instructions to wash before using.
We got the Universal Studios cup with three scenes featuring Jurassic Park (which has a McDonald’s in it), Minions and Shrek.
These are cups, not the sturdy collectible glasses fast food chains gave out in the 1970s. They are made of plastic and hold 16 ounces. You need to wash before use, and if you read the fine print on the bottom you’ll find you have to hand-wash them and can’t put them in a microwave.
The other cups feature Mattel toys Barbie & Hot Wheels; Beanie Babies; Hello Kitty together with Peanuts characters; Coca-Cola; and McDonald’s favorites such as Grimace and Funny Fry Friends.
After breakfast, you can get Collector’s Meals with 10-piece Chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac. Both come with fries and a drink.
