A 29-year-old man suspected of setting several brush fires in San Juan Capistrano was arrested Wednesday.
Two recent fires the man was suspected of setting occurred on June 25, with one burning near the San Juan Creek and another about a mile away, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
The locations and dates of other fires connected to the suspect were not immediately available,
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish each of the blazes with no reports of injuries or damage to structures, though there was minor property damage sustained in at least one fire, said Capt. Sean Doran.
“With worsening wildfire seasons, we will hold criminals accountable for threatening the lives and well-being of our residents,” Supervisor Katrina Foley said in a Wednesday statement.
San Juan Capistrano resident Sergio Parracastellon was arrested and booked on 10 counts of arson, authorities said. A motive for the fires was under investigation.
