The Dodgers loaded up on college pitchers as the MLB draft concluded on Tuesday.
Seven of their final 10 picks were college pitchers, starting with right-hander Aidan Foeller from Southern Illinois (11th round), left-hander Cody Morse from Weatherford College in Texas (12th round), Long Beach State right-hander Mike Villani (13th round) and right-hander Will Gagnon from Reedley College (14th round).
Villani had 10 saves and a 3.24 ERA as a reliever for LBSU this past season with 29 strikeouts in 25 innings.
After taking Georgia high school shortstop Erik Parker in the 15th round, the Dodgers went back to college for Kansas left-hander Evan Shaw (16th round), Oregon right-hander Isaac Ayon (18th round) and Ole Miss left-hander Hunter Elliott (20th round).
Ayon has not pitched in two years due to elbow problems that resulted in surgery. He was selected in the 20th round by the Washington Nationals last year but returned to Oregon, where he was unable to pitch this past season. Elliott also missed the 2024 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow.

The Dodgers also selected Oklahoma shortstop Jackson Nicklaus in the 17th round and Northwest Florida State outfielder Chase Williams in the 19th round.
With their 18 picks in this year’s draft, the Dodgers took 10 college pitchers, four college position players and four high school position players including their first pick, shortstop Kellon Lindsey from Wauchula, Florida.
