Crystal Cove Shake Shack debuts OC Fair-inspired menu

Should the throngs of revelers set to descend on the OC Fair prove too much for the introverted walking among us, Crystal Cove Shake Shack offers a less raucous affair.

Inspired by the foods found at the OC Fair, the little burger and shake joint (not to be confused with the NYC-based chain) perched above the beach in Corona del Mar neighborhood has introduced a limited menu that takes inspiration from the annual bazaar, including the use of snack-food aisle ingredients like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, Pop-Tarts and more.

Menu highlights include a Hot Cheetos Burger, a burger topped with Hot Cheetos, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and a special sauce; the Hot Cheeto Dog, a frank topped with Hot Cheetos; the Hot Cheetos Shake, a sweet-spicy vanilla milkshake mashed and topped with Hot Cheetos; the Strawberry Pop-Tart Shake, a strawberry shake topped with a strawberry Pop-Tart and rainbow sprinkles; and the Coffee Donut Shake, a coffee-flavor shake with an old-fashioned donut.

Rainbow Cone, Chicago’s 98-year-old sliced ice cream sensation, coming to O.C.

The menu is available until summer’s end.

And while the crowds at the decades-old burger joint won’t match the plethora of people found at the OC Fair (which begins on Friday, July 19), the parking scarcity at Crystal Cove Shake Shake won’t be as easy breezy. Vehicles often idle along PCH waiting for one of a handful of parking spots to open.

A better alternative is to park in a lot inside Crystal Cove State Beach and walk up to the Shake Shack. Your pedestrian effort will be rewarded with festive Fairesque fare and some of the best views in all of Orange County.
