The Chance Theater will feature a special staged reading of “Tenderness and Gratitude Number Four,” a touching new play focused on personal relationships on Aug. 7.
The piece, described as a “melancholy comedy about how friendship, love, and art teach us the awful joy of being human,” was written by acclaimed actress and playwright, Enid Graham.
This performance is part of a new “On the Radar” series at the Anaheim Hills theater that showcases new and innovative works in progress. This new script reading series supports the creation of diverse new stories from emerging U.S. playwrights offering them access to a community of artists and audiences and the freedom to explore their boundaries and interests.
Tickets are $15 per person and are available at chancetheater.com. The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Chance Theater’s Bette Aitken Theater Arts Center.
Tasty treat serves up funding, too
The Stand Restaurant chain launched a new limited-time Cookies n’ Dreams Milkshake earlier this month specifically created for its fundraising partnership with the Miracles for Kids organization benefitting families with critically ill children.
For every one of the milkshakes sold during July and August, The Stand will donate $2 to the nonprofit, pledging to match all online or in-store donations up to $10,000.
The Stand encourages customers to donate directly to Miracles for Kids at any of its 19 locations throughout California, including in nearby Tustin, Chino Hills, Newport Beach and Irvine. “With every “Cookies n’ Dreams milkshake sold, our goal is not only to delight our customers’ taste buds, but also to make a significant impact in the lives of families facing substantial challenges,” said Zachary Wishengrad, vice president of The Stand.
Miracles for Kids, celebrating its 20th year of service, continues to offer essential resources such as food, clothing and developmental programs, as well as housing at its Miracle Manor located in Orange near the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, to assist families during their child’s illness and treatment. Visit miraclesforkids.org/thestand to make a donation or for more information.
