Founded by OC natives Matt Meddock, Beckham Thomas and executive chef Max Schlutz, West Coast Sessions Deli started life in a small space along Newport Beach’s Balboa Peninsula. Ten years later, the surf-inspired sandwich shop has swelled to six locations while remaining true to Schlutz’s culinary vision that melds passed-down traditions with notable food trends.
From Monday, June 24 until Friday, June 28, Sessions West Coast will celebrate its birthday with deals on its most popular sandwiches, along with its in-house Shaka Spuds potato chips, for only $10.
Monday, June 24: Goodmother — Genoa salami, country ham, lemon ricotta, shaved red onion, cherry pepper, parmesan, baby gem lettuce and herb vinaigrette on ciabatt
Tuesday, June 25: Yogi — Chicken, avocado, basil pesto, cucumber, marinated tomato and arugula on a French roll
Wednesday, June 26: Meddock Melee — Chicken, jalapeño jack, avocado, sprouts, marinated tomato, cherry pepper and adobo buttermilk on squaw brea
Thursday, June 27: Big Tuna Melt — Dill albacore tuna salad, Swiss cheese, garlic pickle and sriracha aioli on Italian bread
Friday, June 28: Summer Zephyr (which won “Sandwich of the Year” honors in 2016) — Fresh mozzarella, marinated tomato, pickled onion, basil aioli, arugula and balsamic reduction on a French roll
“Each of our anniversary sandwich features has a valued place in our story, and represents our dedication to maintaining a balance between the quality of fine dining and the comfort of a home-cooked meal,” said Meddock in a written statement.

In addition to the sandwich offerings, Sessions will screen “Baja Sessions” at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 29 at Ancillary Studios in Costa Mesa. The documentary follows the Sessions surf team, comprised of 10 Orange County professional surfers, as they ride the waves in Baja California, Mexico.

“Surfing is what raised many of us, it’s who we are, it’s what we do. Surfing fed our souls and now we are literally feeding a dozen young pro surfers who are involved in Sessions’ Ambassador Program,” added Meddock.
After the free screening, guests are invited an afterparty, which will be attended by the surfers featured in the movie, on the remodeled patio at nearby Sessions South Coast Plaza. While the movie is free, seats are limited; attendees must reserve their seats before the show.
Sessions can be found in Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Mission Viejo and Newport Beach (two locations).
