Sage Hill’s girls basketball team has been bolstered by three new players as it retools following the graduation of four starters.
Junior-to-be guard Mei-Ling Perry of San Diego powerhouse La Jolla Country Day, Perry’s incoming freshman sister Aoki and Northwood standout forward Isabella Rose have enrolled at Sage Hill, Lightning coach Kerwin Walters confirmed.
Mei-Ling averaged 13.6 points and 6.1 rebounds last season to help La Jolla Country Day reach the Division I semifinals of the CIF Southern California Regional. As a freshman, the 5-foot-11 Mei-Ling attended Mater Dei.
Rose, a 6-foot senior, earned second-team All-Pacific Coast League honors last season. The Timberwolves finished 8-14 and missed the playoffs.
The trio will join a Sage Hill lineup led by returning starting point guard Amalia Holguin and key reserves Alyssa Cuff and Kamdyn Klamberg.
Sage Hill graduates starters Emily Eadie (Princeton), Kat Righeimer (Northwestern), Zoie Lamkin (Orange Coast College) and Annabelle Spotts (Chicago) from a team that last season reached the Open Division in the CIF-SS and regional playoffs. The Lightning also claimed a second straight Pacific Coast League title.
Girls basketball will in the spotlight Thursday through Saturday at the California Live showcase in Ladera Ranch.
