Extending its footprint in Orange County, Dutch Bros, the Oregon-based coffee shop known for its inventive espresso drinks and chummy customer service, plans on opening a cafe in Laguna Hills. It will mark the company’s fourth Orange County location.
“We approved in it in February of this year,” said Larry Longenecker, community development director of Laguna Hills. “We’re super excited about this.”
The new roughly 950-square-foot Dutch Bros will be built inside a shopping center at Alicia Parkway and Hon Avenue, one block off the I-5 Freeway. Similar to its other locations, the new Dutch Bros will be a stand-alone building that allows for drive-through and window walk-up orders.

Longenecker said the new coffee pit stop will be built in a shopping center undergoing a comprehensive remodel that “should bring in a lot of new visitors.”
The new Dutch Bros is tentatively scheduled to open in early 2025, according to Longenecker. “Construction won’t start until the end of summer, and it’s typically at least an eight- or nine-month buildout.” he explained.

Dutch Bros opened its first Orange County location in Fountain Valley’s Village Shopping Center on Feb. 9. Coming from as far away as Las Vegas, fans camped overnight in their cars to be first in line to get their hands on the company’s inventive drinks.
Caffeine-spiked beverages like the Caramelizer (featuring espresso, chocolate milk, caramel sauce and whipped cream), the Double Torture (double shot of espresso with vanilla syrup, chocolate milk and whipped cream), the 9-1-1 (six shots of espresso with Irish cream syrup and half and half), and the company’s signature brand of fizzy Rebel energy drinks have helped turn the business into a multimillion-dollar public company with approximately 500 stores across 12 states. The chain hopes to open 4,000 shops in the next 10 to 15 years as part of its long-term growth strategy.
Founded as a pushcart enterprise in 1992 by brothers Dane and Travis Boersma in Grants Pass, Ore., Dutch Bros offers an vast menu of customizable espresso drinks, teas, smoothies and other beverages.
Dutch Bros plans on opening locations in Fountain Valley (located two blocks away from its open Fountain Valley spot) and La Habra either later this year or in early 2025.
