John Eastman vowed to appeal the State Bar Court’s decision to yank his law license over efforts to keep Donald Trump in power in 2020 — “lawfare” and “a travesty of justice,” he called the proceedings against him — and it’s finally official.
On Friday, May 31, Eastman asked the independent court handling attorney discipline cases to review the decision against him by Judge Yvette Roland.
In March, Roland concluded that Eastman, former dean of Chapman University’s law school, betrayed the fundamental oaths he swore to uphold as a licensed attorney. “Despite the depth, breadth, and complexity of the case law and historical context cited by the parties, this disciplinary proceeding boils down to an analysis of whether or not Eastman, in his role as the attorney for then-President Donald Trump … and his re-election campaign, acted dishonestly,” Roland wrote.

He did, she concluded, and should be disbarred from the practice of law in California, and be stricken from the roll of attorneys.
Eastman’s request for a review of her decision goes to the presiding and associate judges of the Bar Court (California, incidentally, is the only state with an independent professional court dedicated to ruling on attorney discipline cases). If either party dislikes the decision there, it can be appealed to the state Supreme Court.
An appeal is not an inexpensive proposition. Eastman’s trial stretched out over 32 days, and the cost for trial transcripts for a review topped $20,000. But he’s been busy fundraising as of late — including photo ops and speeches at the recent CAGOP convention in Burlingame — and has collected more than $870,000 (of his $1.5 million goal) on GiveSendGo.
Eastman makes regular appearances on decidedly out-of-the-mainstream shows, continuing to beat the “massive fraud in 2020” drum despite lacking evidence of same (and despite Roland’s observation that he must be disbarred because he refuses to acknowledge any wrongdoing).
On Emerald Robinson’s “Absolute Truth” show on MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell’s FrankSpeech platform, he called the Trump guilty verdicts in New York a “judicial lynching” (a jury of 12 found Trump guilty, not the judge), urged Trump’s lawyers to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court for intervention (despite this being a matter in state, not federal, court), and raised the frightening possibility of violence in November.
It’s worth noting that host Robinson once warned that COVID vaccines carry clues for none other than Satan himself (!), famously tweeting: “Dear Christians: the vaccines contain a bioluminescent marker called LUCIFERASE so that you can be tracked.”
Robinson said, “It looks like Trump support is overwhelming.” Eastman said it looks like Trump “is guaranteed to win right now.”
“You are at the forefront of shining light on a subject where darkness benefits those only interested in their own power and wealth – keep going,” wrote a recent donor to Eastman. “Trump, the man of spirit, truth and love! God bless,” wrote another.
If things don’t go their way, it can only because there’s fraud, they assert. Is anyone else afraid?
