A teenage girl was reported killed after being struck by a pickup truck Saturday night on the Balboa Peninsula.
The Newport Beach Police Department issued an advisory at 7:32 p.m. Saturday, saying that it had shut down eastbound Balboa Street at westbound Palm Street due to a traffic collision.
Several TV broadcast reports said the pedestrian was a 14-year-old girl. Police did not immediately confirm the victim’s, death, age or gender.
The driver reportedly remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.
Balboa Street was shut down from Washington Street to Bay Avenue during the investigation.
