Three Orange County teams are in the eight-team field for the CIF Southern California Regional Division I baseball playoffs.
Huntington Beach and Orange Lutheran have Division I Round I home games Tuesday, the first day of the three-round tournament.
Huntington Beach (23-9) is home against Granite Hills (22-7) of El Cajon. Granite Hills lost to Torrey Pines in the CIF San Diego Section Open Division semifinals.
Top-seeded Orange Lutheran (25-7) has a home game at Hart Park against Cathedral Catholic (23-9) of San Diego. Cathedral Catholic lost to Rancho Bernardo in the CIF San Diego Section Open Division semifinals.
Santa Margarita (21-9-1) has a Division I away game Tuesday against Rancho Bernardo (24-8) of San Diego. Rancho Bernardo lost to Torrey Pines in the CIF San Diego Section Open Division championship game. Santa Margarita lost to Huntington Beach in the CIF-SS Division 1 quarterfinals
All Regional baseball games are at 4 p.m. The starting time can be changed if both teams agree upon it and the time change is approved by the CIF State office. The upper-seeded team is the home team throughout the Regional playoffs.
A few teams declined the invitation to play in the Regional including CIF-SS Division 3 champion Beckman and CIF-SS Division 1 champion Corona and the other CIF-SS Division 1 finalist Harvard-Westlake. The decisions of Corona and Harvard-Westlake created openings in Regional Division 1, and Santa Margarita is a team that filled the opening.
Orange Lutheran lost to Harvard-Westlake 4-2 in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 semifinals.
CIF-SS Division 7 champion Oxford Academy (18-14-1) plays its Division IV Regional Round I game Tuesday at Valhalla (24-6) of El Cajon. Valhalla won the CIF San Diego Section Division 3 championship.
Pacifica Christian (22-7), the runnerup in CIF-SS Division 8, plays its Division V Regional Round I game Tuesday at Mt. Miguel (15-16) of Spring Valley. Mount Miguel won the CIF San Diego Section Division 5 title.
Round II games are Thursday. The Regional finals are June 1.
