Nate Savoie hit two home runs and Josiah Hartshorn homered and drove in four runs for Orange Lutheran in a 17-6 win over Vista Murrieta in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 baseball playoffs Tuesday at Vista Murrieta High.
The Lancers (24-6) will play La Mirada (23-6) at Glenn High in Norwalk in the quarterfinals Friday. La Mirada defeated Foothill 5-2 on Tuesday.
Derek Curiel had two hits and three RBIs for Orange Lutheran, the No. 1 team in the Orange County Top 25. Brady Murrietta had three hits and two RBIs.
Also in Division 1:
Santa Margarita 6, Gahr 3: Warren Gravely was 2 for 2 with two doubles and two RBIs for the host Eagles (21-8-1), who will play at Huntington Beach in the quarterfinals Friday.
Jake Lavin also drove in two runs and Logan de Groot hit a triple for Santa Margarita, a Division 1 finalist last season and the No. 2 team in the Orange County rankings. Brennan Bauer and Ethan Russell shared the Eagles pitching duties.
San Dimas 7, Cypress 6: The Centurions (19-10-1) could not hold onto their lead in the loss at San Dimas (25-4).
Antonio Lujan hit a solo home run and an RBI single for Cypress. Justin Tillar hit a two-run home run.
In Division 2:
Crean Lutheran 3, Citrus Valley 2 (9 innings): Walker Richardson walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning to bring home the winning run for the Saints (17-12).
Crean Lutheran plays at Moorpark in the quarterfinals Friday.
Canyon 5, Quartz Hill 3: Canyon, last year’s Division 4 champion, is doing fine in Division 2.
The Comanches made the long road trip to Quartz Hill and got a 5-4 win in the second round.
The Comanches play at Ayala in the quarterfinals Friday.
In Division 3:
Beckman 7, La Habra 5 (10): The Patriots (22-6-1) won a wild one to advance to the quarterfinals.
They will play at Newbury Park on Friday.
Beckman trailed by two runs in the top of the seventh inning when Isaiah Kapur’s double drove in Alex Dorantes and Ken Tomitaka.
Nick Molina pitched the final three innings to get the win.
Los Alamitos 7, La Salle 2: A four-run fifth inning carried the visiting Griffins (23-7) to victory.
They will be at home against Mission Viejo (17-13) in the quarterfinals Friday.
Mission Viejo 10, Chaminade 6: The Diablos (17-13), who qualified for the playoffs as an at-large team, beat third-seeded Chaminade at home to advance to Friday’s quarterfinals.
In Division 5:
Calvary Chapel 4, Monrovia 2: Jacob Flores pitched four innings and was 2 for 3 at the plate, and Matt Busch was 3 for 4 for the visiting Eagles (16-10).
Calvary Chapel plays Chino in the quarterfinals Friday at Vanguard University.
In Division 7:
Buena Park 13, Hueneme 4: Alex Blancas and Ryan Prescott both had two hits and two RBIs for the visiting Coyotes (23-6).
Jose Arcos and Izeah Reyes split the pitching work for Buena Park, which has scored 25 runs in its two playoff games.
George Da Avila drove in two runs for the Coyotes.
Santa Ana 3, Cornerstone Christian 1: Julian Gonzalez allowed one hit and one run and struck out eight in five innings of pitching for the Saints (14-12-1).
Ian Ramierez struck out four and gave up one hit in the final two innings for the Saints.
Santa Ana will be home in the quarterfinals against Desert Christian of Lancaster.
