A man drowned at Laguna Lake Park in Fullerton on Saturday, May 4 after attempting to swim across the lake, which is reserved for fishing, officials said.
Around 6:57 p.m., Fullerton Police and Fire personnel responded to a possible drowning after a man was seen entering the lake and attempting to swim across but did not resurface. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Dive Team located the man at the south end of the lake, in the area of Lakeview and Clarion Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Fullerton Police Officer Kristy Wells said.
No foul play is suspected and the man’s identity has not yet been released by the coroner.
The 7-acre lake has a shallow perimeter but runs about 9 to 10 feet deep in the middle. No wading is allowed and there are several signs posted in the area notifying visitors that swimming is prohibited, Wells said.
