Josh Beaty has been hired as the boys basketball coach at Edison.
Beaty coached at Fountain Valley this past season after coaching the previous four seasons at Buena Park.
He also has been the coach at Valley Christian of Cerritos and at Crean Lutheran. Beaty coached Crean Lutheran to a CIF Southern Section championship in the 2017-18 season.
At Edison he replaces Rich Boyce, who has stepped away from coaching after spending the past 24 seasons coaching at Edison. He remains an athletic director at Edison.
Edison was 20-9 overall and 2-4 in the four-team Surf League this past season. The Chargers were eliminated in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs.
The Chargers were an Orange County Top 10 program in many of Boyce’s seasons at Edison. They won nine league championships and twice advanced to CIF-SS finals during Boyce’s tenure.
Fountain Valley went 18-13 overall and 2-4 in the Surf League in the 2023-24 season. The Barons advanced to the CIF-SS Division 2AA quarterfinals.
