Newport Harbor’s boys volleyball team finished second in the Gold Division of the Best of the West tournament Saturday at Poway High School.
The Sailors (14-3) lost to Mira Costa in the tournament final, 25-15, 25-19. They beat Corona del Mar in the first round, Huntington Beach in the quarterfinals and Tesoro in the semifinals.
The Sailors are No. 2 and Mira Costa is No. 1 in this week’s CIF-SS Division 1/2 rankings.
Newport Harbor will play at No. 5-ranked Corona del Mar on Friday at 6 p.m.
