Police seeking details surrounding cold case murder of Southern California woman

Authorities in Riverside County are asking the public for help in ascertaining new information surrounding the 2014 murder of a woman in a trailer park.

According to the Hemet Police Department, a call requesting medical aid to be dispatched to the 200 block of South Lyon Avenue in Hemet came in on Saturday, Mar. 22, 2014.

Arriving first responders got to the location, a trailer park near downtown Hemet, and found a deceased woman lying face down inside.

She was identified as 47-year-old Dori De Ann Jamison.

“The Hemet Police Department was called in to investigate the suspicious death,” authorities said. “It was later determined the victim had been strangled.”

Further investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jamison’s death revealed that she had recently broken up with her boyfriend and began dating another man. Individuals who were interviewed by police described her as “always upbeat and happy,” and neighbors said they never heard any fights or arguments from Jamison’s trailer near the time of the murder.

Officials stated that the last known person to speak with Jamison, her mother, described their conversation as “positive,” noting that she didn’t notice any concerns nor did her daughter mention anything concerning.

That conversation took place the Wednesday before Jamison was found dead, police said.

“After not hearing from Ms. Jamison for several days, her ex-boyfriend came to check on her,” Hemet police said. “There was no answer when he arrived. He asked neighbors to go with him to her trailer, and he forced entry into the trailer, where he found her body.”

Detectives found no other signs of forced entry or a struggle within the trailer.

No further details were available, and the case has since gone cold.

Now, 11 years later, the Hemet Police Department’s Homicide Cold Case Unit is now asking the public for any new information or leads that could assist in solving the case and bringing closure to Jamison’s family.
