(KRON) — One person was severely burned in a two-alarm carport fire in Santa Rosa over the weekend, according to the Santa Rosa Fire Department.
The Santa Rosa fire and police departments responded Saturday at 10:36 a.m. to 732 Beaver Street on the report of a fire involving a vehicle and a male victim with burn injuries. Arriving fire crews found multiple vehicles and a carport “well involved” in fire, SRFD said. The victim was located on the sidewalk with significant burns.
The active blaze was threatening an adjacent two-story apartment building. Several apartment units were evacuated as the flames were extinguished within 25 minutes, fire officials said.
“The exterior of the apartment building sustained minor damage and one unit had minor smoke damage but was deemed habitable by the City of Santa Rosa building inspector,” Santa Rosa Fire said.
Paramedics treated the burn victim at the scene before an ambulance rushed him to a local hospital. The current condition of the burn victim is unknown.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation as of Saturday afternoon, officials said, but it was determined to have originated from a vehicle in the carport.
