(KRON) — Three lost hikers, including two young children, were rescued in the Santa Cruz Mountains late Sunday night, according to the CHP Golden Gate Division Air Operations.
The California Highway Patrol’s H-30 helicopter assisted California State Parks and Cal Fire crews in locating the lost hikers in the area of Big Basin Redwood State Park.
“It was reported the children were beginning to suffer from hypothermia,” CHP Air Ops said in a social media post.

The helicopter crew found the hikers on a remote trail, CHP said. After the H-30 landed nearby, the hikers were loaded and transported to an awaiting American Medical Response ambulance.
The three were treated by medical staff and released to a “loved one that had been searching for them,” CHP said.
