(KRON) — A Petaluma man was arrested for having child sex material on Tuesday, according to the Petaluma Police Department. Shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday, Petaluma PD detectives and Community Impact Response Team (CIRT) officers arrested Nicholas Petersen, 31, for an outstanding warrant related to an investigation.
Officers stopped Petersen while he was driving into a shopping center. Detectives, according to police, got a tip related to illegal, obscene digital images/data. As the investigation unfolded, detectives established probable cause that showed Petersen was in possession of illegal and obscene material.
Following the arrest, detectives obtained a search warrant and searched his residence. Petersen was booked at the Sonoma County Jail for possessing images/data, etc. of persons under 18 years of age engaging or simulating sexual conduct.
Despite an arrest having been made, police say the investigation remains active.
