(KRON) – HBO has announced the new castmates of its long-awaited hit show “Euphoria” and it includes Oakland native and former Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch. The show made the announcement on its Instagram on Friday.
The show starred another Oakland native Zendaya as Rue Bennett.
In a statement released by HBO, Lynch expressed gratitude for his new role. “I’m hella juiced about the show and getting a chance to work with the people in front and behind the camera. At the end of the day, I’m just thankful for the opportunity,” said Lynch.
“Euphoria” is heading to its third season. The last season debuted three years ago in January 2022.
This isn’t Lynch’s first time acting. He debuted in the dark comedy movie “Matt’s Chance” in 2013. He recently was on the silver screen with his role as Mr. G in the 2023 movie “Bottoms.”
According to IMBD, the show has a total of 117 overall award nominations and 43 wins.
On July 31, 2023, Angus Cloud, the actor who played Fezo, passed away from an overdose. Since Cloud’s death, he was memorialized in Oakland by an artist who painted a large mural on a building on East 19th Street and Park Avenue.
Newcomers to the third season include Spanish singer Rosalía, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace and more.
