(KRON) — One person is in custody after an Oakland Police Department car was shot while an officer was inside early Monday morning, OPD said. The officer was not struck.
The shooting happened at about 12:30 a.m. on the 6000 block of Seminary Avenue. The officer was in the area investigating another case.
Multiple rounds were fired. OPD said “it appears that the officer may have been the intended target of the shooting.”
An arrest was made Monday afternoon, but OPD did not release the suspect’s identity. OPD called it “assault with a deadly weapon upon an officer.”
OPD’s investigation is ongoing.
