SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) –San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced Friday that a 26-year-old Richmond man was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol on Highway 101.
The incident occurred on Jan. 14 at 3:20 a.m. near Chavez Street.
According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers spotted Jose Ramos-Gonzalez weaving in and out of lanes while speeding at 90 mph. When officers pulled Ramos-Gonzalez over, they said he was “slow, sluggish, smelled of alcohol” and could not walk straight. Officers said he admitted taking four shots of alcohol after performing a DJ set at a venue called City Nights.
“My office takes these cases seriously and will continue to do everything we can to keep our roads safe,” said DA Jenkins in a news release.
Assistant District Attorney Blake Catherine added, “This verdict sends a message that making the irresponsible decision to drink and drive will not be tolerated in San Francisco.”
Ramos-Gonzalez is currently out of custody and awaits sentencing on Feb. 11.
