SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A new restaurant is coming to San Francisco, and one of the city’s biggest sports stars will be involved in opening it.
Draymond Green is partnering with Nelson German, who owns Dominican restaurant Alamar in Oakland, and Guma Fassil, who owns Ethiopian restaurant Meski’s Kitchen & Garden in Berkeley, to open a restaurant called “Meski” in San Francisco, German confirmed to KRON4.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Meski will be located at 1000 Larkin St. It will combine the culinary backgrounds of all of those involved.
“It’s hard to find anything that represents Black culture in San Francisco,” Green told the Chronicle. “I want to create a staple in this city that people can go to and regardless if you are actually a part of that culture, you can feel that and feel welcome.”
The food, dessert and drink options will all feature aspects of Caribbean and Ethiopian cuisines. It will have a downstairs lounge with sofas and TV screens to watch sports along with a traditional dining room upstairs, the Chronicle reported. Both areas will have access to the full menu.
The restaurant’s Instagram account shows dishes such as a T-bone steak in a berbere-coffee rub with plantains on the side.
“For 2 years we’ve been quietly building a dining & nightlife concept that will change the game for San Francisco- the culinary capital of the west coast,” Fassil said on Instagram.
The restaurant opens March 7, per the Chronicle. It will be open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 5:30 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
