(KRON) — The Berkeley Police Department (BDP) said two allegedly abused dogs are doing well after being rescued last weekend.
Berkeley PD said its Team 5 unit was alerted about the incident after receiving a “troubling” call from a resident.
Berkeley police said officers responded quickly to the address and arrested a suspect. Authorities have not released the suspect’s name or what charges they face.
BDP confirmed that animal control officers assisted in removing both dogs from the property and taking them to a safe location. It was not clear what sort of conditions the animals were living in.
In a Facebook post, Berkeley police thanked “Officer Sahota and Team 5 who were very dedicated to handling this call and ensuring the well-being of the dogs.”
KRON4 reached out to Berkeley PD for more information on the arrest made, but did not get an answer before this story was published.
