(KRON) — It’s the end of an era in the East Bay, where Danville Bowl, a mainstay in the community for more than 60 years, will be closing next month. According to a post on the bowling alley’s Facebook page, the property at 200 Boone Court has been sold to developers “who intend to start right away.”
The bowling alley’s last day will be Monday, March 31.
“It has been the greatest honor to serve this great community during the last 60+ years,” Danville Bowl said on Facebook. “We hope we’ve provided fun times, smiles, and laughter to everyone who came in. Whether it was throwing some games, enjoying a drink in the lounge, or grabbing a bite in the grill, our goal was to provide memories that would last a lifetime.”
Open seven days a week, Danville Bowl has played host to recreational bowlers and organized bowling leagues for decades. While the bowling alley may be closing, in its farewell Facebook post it encouraged people to stick with the sport.
“Bowling is a great game and even though we may be leaving there are still many great bowling centers in the area to bowl at,” the post read. “Dublin, Granada, Clayton, and the new Pinstripes in Walnut Creek. We hope you continue to bowl and let bowling provide joy and happiness into your lives long after we’re gone.”
“Thank you for the wonderful memories and fun times we all shared,” the post concluded. “We couldn’t have dreamed of being apart of a greater community. Thank you again Danville.”
