(KRON) — A woman was killed and a man seriously injured after a solo-vehicle collision in Contra Costa County Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. Crash investigators said neither occupant inside the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.

CHP responded at 10:32 a.m. to northbound Interstate 680 in the township of Vine Hill on the report of a crash. According to the preliminary investigation, a white Dodge Caravan was traveling northbound on the interstate when it veered off the right shoulder before returning to the road and crashing into the concrete center divider. The van overturned in the crash.

A woman was ejected from the van during the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene, CHP said. The other occupant, a man, sustained major injuries and was rushed to an area hospital. The man’s current condition is unknown.

CHP is investigating who was driving at the time of the crash and whether DUI was a factor.
