Sophomores Kale Murphy of Mission Viejo and Benjamin Harris of Long Beach Poly have transferred to Servite, Friars football coach Chris Reinert confirmed.
Murphy, who plays quarterback, surfaced as an incoming freshman to watch at Mission Viejo with his play at the Diablos’ summer passing tournament in 2023.
The 6-foot-3,182-pound Murphy helped Mission Viejo’s freshmen team finish 10-0 in 2023. This past season, he helped guide the junior varsity squad to a 9-0 record.
Murphy played limited varsity snaps this past season. He has been offered by Georgia State.
Servite could be seeking a quarterback with senior Leo Hannan headed to Michigan State.
Mission Viejo has been loaded at quarterback the past two seasons with Draiden Trudeau and Luke Fahey splitting time. This past season, Trudeau was a senior while Fahey was a junior.
The 5-foot-9 Harris played wide receiver and running back at Long Beach Poly in the fall.
He finished the season with 55 carries for 362 yards and six touchdowns and six receptions for 67 yards.
Harris was effective rushing the ball in the middle of the campaign. He racked up a combined 228 yards against Millikan and Long Beach Wilson in consecutive games in October.
Harris is expected to be a standout in track for Servite this spring.
