(KRON) — Two of five suspects who allegedly brandished firearms at victims inside a San Jose business during a July 2024 robbery have been arrested, the San Jose Police Department announced Tuesday.
The armed robbery took place on July 12 at around 2:22 a.m. inside a business on the 2600 block of Alum Rock Avenue. Police said five suspects armed with guns entered the business and stole approximately $6,000 worth of property, including cash from the victims. The suspects fled the area before officers arrived.
SJPD Robbery Unit detectives identified two of the involved suspects during the investigation and obtained arrest and search warrants.
On Nov. 13, Christopher Sanchez, 30, of San Jose, was arrested for armed robbery. On Jan. 8, Alex Maldonado, 28, of Stockton, was also arrested for armed robbery. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
A search of Maldonado’s residence uncovered multiple unregistered handguns, an unregistered AK-47 rifle, a stolen lever-action rifle, and several extended magazines, SJPD said.
Anyone with information on the three outstanding suspects is asked to contact Detective Williams at 4766@sanjoseca.gov or 408-277-4166.
In response to escalating public safety concerns in nearby Alum Rock Village, officials last year provided businesses in that area with free safety camera kits to help bring crime down.
