SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A frost advisory has been issued for the interior Bay Area Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will be as low as 32 degrees and could result in frost formation and hazardous cold outdoors in the Bay Area interior and along the Central Coast.
The frost warning has been converted to a freeze warning across the Southern Salinas Valley. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 27 degrees are possible along with frost formation and “hazardous cold outdoor conditions,” the NWS said.
The following areas will be under a frost advisory:
- Sonoma and Napa county interior valleys
- Interior East Bay
- Santa Clara Valley
- Eastern Santa Clara hills
- Interior mountains of Monterey and San Benito counties
The freeze warning is limited to the Southern Salinas Valley.
“Cold conditions will be hazardous to sensitive populations such as unhoused individuals,” the NWS said. “Take steps to protect tender plants from the cold. Be sure to cover or tend to sensitive plants and vegetation as they may be damaged by frost.”
The advisories will be in effect from 12 a.m. through 9 a.m. Tuesday.
