Frost advisory issued for much of Bay Area Tuesday

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A frost advisory has been issued for the interior Bay Area Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will be as low as 32 degrees and could result in frost formation and hazardous cold outdoors in the Bay Area interior and along the Central Coast.

The frost warning has been converted to a freeze warning across the Southern Salinas Valley. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 27 degrees are possible along with frost formation and “hazardous cold outdoor conditions,” the NWS said.

“Cold conditions will be hazardous to sensitive populations such as unhoused individuals,” the NWS said. “Take steps to protect tender plants from the cold. Be sure to cover or tend to sensitive plants and vegetation as they may be damaged by frost.”

The advisories will be in effect from 12 a.m. through 9 a.m. Tuesday.
