(KRON) – Sideshows have become a norm in the Bay Area on Saturday nights.
The Vallejo Police Department confirmed a sideshow at the intersection of Sonoma and Virginia streets early Sunday morning. According to the department, the sideshow had between 300 to 400 participants and viewers.
Another video shows an Oakland sideshow that also occurred early Sunday morning on San Pablo and 18th Street near the Oakland Ice Center.
It is still being determined if the Oakland sideshow had the same participants as the Vallejo show.
Many individuals hung halfway outside the passenger seats as drivers recklessly swerved, the video shows. One of the cars involved in the sideshow near the ice center had “CHO A–UP!” stamped on the back window of the dark-colored sedan.
The video showed five Oakland police vehicles breaking up the sideshow.
A white BMW caught on fire near one of the night’s sideshows in Oakland. It is unclear how the flames began.
This is a developing story.
KRON4 has contacted the Oakland Police Department for comment and is awaiting a response.
