(KRON) — Alameda County voters will decide whether District Attorney Pamela Price will be recalled. Price, a former defense and civil rights attorney, is the first-ever Black woman to serve as the county’s top prosecutor. Elected with 53 percent of the vote, Price promised to deliver criminal justice reforms.
However, her tenure as DA has been mired with controversy. Critics – which include Rep. Eric Swallwell (D-Livermore) – say she’s too lenient on criminals and has mishandled several high-profile murder cases. Supporters, meanwhile, have characterized the recall as a Republican-backed “coup.”
If the recall succeeds, it will be the first in Alameda County history.
