Person detained as fire burns through low-income apartment in Los Angeles

One person was detained when a fire burned through a low-income apartment in Los Angeles’ Van Nuys neighborhood Wednesday morning. 

The blaze was reported just after 1 a.m. at the Healthy Housing Foundation’s Valley Haven location on the 6900 block of Sepulveda Boulevard.

Video showed flames coming through the window of a third-floor unit.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to additional units.

One person was detained outside the building but it was not clear why. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Healthy Housing Foundation provides low-income housing to families and those previously unsheltered or homeless, according to its website.
