(KRON) — A consignment store in Danville was hit by sledgehammer-wielding thieves in the middle of the afternoon Tuesday, KRON4.com has learned. Officers responded at 3:05 p.m. to the Home Consignment Center on Camino Ramon on a report of a strong-arm robbery, the Danville Police Department said.
At the scene, witnesses told officers that several men armed with sledgehammers had barged into the store and proceeded to smash display cases. The men, according to police, then took jewelry before fleeing in a vehicle.
Officers secured the area, collected evidence and interviewed witnesses. The suspects, police said, were adult Black men who wore dark clothing and masks. Danville PD said that while the incident bears similarities to several robberies at the same location, there is no evidence linking the crimes together.
The Danville Police Department is actively seeking information to aid into the investigation of this incident.
