Six Flags Magic Mountain visitors will run into a prankster boogeyman with a burlap sack on his head whenever they break the “rules” of Halloween in the new Trick ‘r Treat maze coming to Fright Fest at the Valencia amusement park.
The newly supercharged Fright Fest Extreme 2024 will run on select Thursday through Sunday nights from Sept. 7 to Nov. 3 at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

In addition to the Trick ‘r Treat maze, Fright Fest Extreme will also feature haunted houses based on the Stranger Things, Saw, Conjuring and Army of the Dead horror franchises.
The lineup of haunted mazes based on blockbuster horror franchises marks the largest investment yet in Halloween by Six Flags — which will roll out elements of Fright Fest Extreme to some of its other parks.

The 2007 “Trick ‘r Treat” film starring Anna Paquin (“X-Men”), Brian Cox (“Succession”), Dylan Baker (“Selma”) and Rochelle Aytes (“White Chicks”) follows a series of interconnected storylines with a demonic trick-or-treater named Sam tying the tales together.
Sam — wearing orange pajamas with a burlap sack on his head — appears from the shadows to enforce the rules of Halloween whenever a tradition is broken.

The Fright Fest creative team has also gone back to the original graphic novels and comic books to tap into characters and storylines to create scenes for the maze that never appeared in the “Trick ‘r Treat” film.
Six Flags visitors brave enough to enter the Trick ‘r Treat maze will be handed a blood-stained bag as they head off to collect candy on Halloween night in the fictional town of Warren Valley, Ohio. Sugar smells will be pumped into the maze as visitors navigate 11 candy trails.

Along the way they will encounter a high school principal turned serial killer, a werewolf attack under a full moon and the muddied remains of the town’s legendary School Bus Massacre.
The Fright Fest creative team is working on the Trick ‘r Treat maze with the film’s writer and director Michael Dougherty, whose credits include “X-Men: Apocalypse,” “Godzilla vs. Kong” and “Krampus.”
Six Flags has teamed up on Fright Fest Extreme with RWS Global, which has also produced Halloween experiences for SeaWorld’s Howl-O-Scream, Hersheypark’s Dark Nights, Kennywood’s Phantom Fall Fest and Warner Bros. horror film haunts.
